Rory
Gallagher – The Best Of: Crest Of A Wave
Eagle Rock Entertainment, Aug 25, 2009
The
2-CD set lovingly—with great attention to
detail—encapsulates the Irish blues-rock guitarist’s
greatest solo studio recordings. This comprehensive
release stands as the definitive statement to date
of a true legend who was taken from us at age 47,
in 1995. The Irish guitarist takes us to hard rock
to sweet blues with lots of emotion and intensity
on this 24 track, double CD. All the tracks are
staples but the stand-outs include; A Million Miles
Away, Crest of a Wave, Moonchild, Tattoo'd Lady,
Walk On Hot Coals and They Don't Make Them Like
You Anymore.

This
is a great follow-up to the DVD Live In Cork that
was re-released earlier this year. While not the first
greatest hits for Gallagher, this is a good and a
fair representation of his solo career covering both
the acoustic and heavy bluesy rock side of Rory.
