Bonnie
Raitt and Friends
Capitol Records - August 15th, 2006
Bonnie Raitt and Friends, the first ever CD/DVD
release from the innovative concert series VH1 Classic
Decades Rock Live!. This special release features
live performances by Bonnie Raitt, Norah Jones,
Ben Harper, Alison Krauss and Keb’Mo’.
As my Grandpappy Cornbread would say, "shoe-eeh
them are stars". Bonnie Raitt and Friends,
which was recorded live at the Trump Taj Mahal in
Atlantic City, NJ on September 30, 2005, will feature
two hours never-before-seen concert and interview
footage.
Raitt is a nine-time Grammy winner and Rock and
Roll Hall of Fame inductee. That ain’t nothing
to sneeze at, neither is this CD. Personally, it’s
my favorite Bonnie Raitt recording to date.
The
DVD features: Raitt performing 17 songs with
her longtime band – George Marinelli (guitar),
James “Hutch” Hutchinson (bass), Ricky
Fataar (drums) and Jon Cleary (keyboards).
The CD features 11 tracks:
1. Introduction
2. Unnecessarily Mercenary (featuring Jon Cleary,
who co-wrote this song)
3. I Will Not Be Broken
4. God Was In The Water
5. Gnawin’ On It
6. You (featuring Alison Krauss)
7. Love Letter (featuring Keb’ Mo’)
8. Two Lights In The Nighttime (featuring Ben Harper)
9. Well, Well, Well (featuring Ben Harper)
10. Something To Talk About
11. I Don't Want Anything To Change (featuring Norah
Jones)
12. Love Sneakin' Up On You (featuring All Special
Guests)
This is a doozy of a CD/DVD combo – talk about
big band, I mean big bang for your buck. This is a
great CD, again my favorite Bonnie Raitt CD to date.
With Christmas coming this would make a great little
stocking stuffer for the music lover on your list.

Ciao’
for now, peace.
