Walter
Trout & Friends “Full Circle”
{Released 2006 on the Ruf Label}
Walter
Trout was born in 1951 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
He has played with great bands and singers such
as Canned Heat, John Lee Hooker, Big Mama Thornton,
and was a member of the legendary John Mayall's
Bluesbreakers, before starting his own band in 1989.
His music is a mix between blues and rock. He is
quite an amazing talent.
Featured artists include John Mayall, Coco Montoya,
Bernard Allison, Jeff Healey, Joe Bonamassa, Eric
Sardinas, Guitar Shorty, Junior Watson, James Harman
and others.
Backing
Walter are the Radical on Bass Rick Knapp, Drums
Joey Pafumi, and keys Sammy Avila (check out Sammy
on cut #11)
This CD has 13 solid songs each demonstrating the
versatility of the man and his “Friends”.
I would divide the CD into four equal categories
-
Category 1 -
Have a Beer and Listen
– Cuts # 1, 2, 4, 9, 10, 11, 12
Category 2 - Let’s Dance
– Cuts # 4, 6, 8,
Category 3 - Acoustic Delta
Blues – Cuts # 3, 7
Category 4 - Practice a lot
and you too can play like this –
Cuts # 5,
And cut 13 is from the “…and
now for something completely different….”
Category.
Well, if you’re not drunk from too many cuts
from category 1 go buy this CD. It is a keeper and
there isn’t a bad cut on it. Can’t say
that very often. So Gator gives it a 4.7 on the
STLBluesometer.
Later
– Gator.
