Dennis
Jones - "Passion For The Blues"
{Release Date: Jan 1, 2005 | Label: Bluerockrecords}
"Passion For The Blues" is a continuation
and appreciation for the music I love. It's straight
ahead blues-rock with a few exceptions. Recorded
at Slideaway Studio, Shadow Hills CA in 2006 all
but tracks 7 & 10 written by Dennis this 10
track CD is a keeper.
1 – No Mo’ – Good opener with
solid beat and bass line.
2 – Super Deluxe – Upbeat 4 bar groove.
Great licks
3 – When I Die – Heavier blues sound
more like today’s best
4 – Passion For The Blues – Delta fingerprints
all over this cut. Best cut on the CD
5 – Graffiti – Nice little shuffle blues
ditty
6 – You’re Wrong – Nice kick ass
blues. Upbeat shuffle with a drivin’ bass
line
7 – I Just Want To Make Love To You –
Down and dirty contemporary blues cut
8 – Something Good – I’d guess--Bobby
Bland influenced --this is great blues with good
mojo
9 – Automatic Love – Again, a great
up-tempo shuffle blues. Cool words. 2nd best cut.
10 - Slam Jam – Soundin’ like the great
Roomful of Blues cut of this.
This
is Dennis’ 2nd release and there’s not
a bad cut on this disc, it pulls a 4.8 out of the
STLBlueometer and it sits in my “play it again”
pile or in my car. I frequently repeat the title cut
#4, this is Cornbread’s favorite as well. Nice
job to Dennis and his band, Michael Turner, Drums,
and Kenny Gray, Bass, others helped but these guys
carried the load. Later – Gator.
