Sue Foley is a talented and gifted artist who gives
a blend of tastes in this very good CD. The 12 cuts
here range from hot fast tunes to slow funky blues
with a drippin’ soul. Sue has won many great
awards and is widely recognized for her great guitar
work. She is also the author of “Guitar Woman”
a book giving a concise and biographical account
both antidotal and through interviews of women guitarists
throughout the world.
In addition to Sue’s talent display she is
joined by Graham Guest in keys, Mike Turrene on
Bass, Tom Bona on Drums, and Core Madadgen on Percussion.
A solid ensemble and very tight.
Here’s my take on the cuts:
1 – New Used Car – very hot a little
“R & R ish” but good
2 – Make It Real – Getting’ the
blues groove goin’
3 – When I Come Back To You – Easy groove
good flow
4 – Absolution – Great slow blues -
Well done
5 – Sugar – Cute Could be better arranged
but a good tune
6 – Do It Again – Too much country in
Sue’s voice for me but again a good tune
7 – Mother – She’s back in a groove
good mojo
8 – Long Tomorrow – Good ballad not
too bluesy
9 – Little Things – Again back into
a solid blues groove
10 – Found My Love – Back into the country
sound again
11 – Deep Freeze – Nice blues upbeat
and tight
12 – Change Your Mind – Good R &
B to wrap it up
