Rich
Fabec Band, Name Your Poison
(2006 - Self Produced on the Mercy Seat Label)
I’ve
had the pleasure of seeing the RFB in person and
they are even better than this CD can capture! A
great band!! Catch them if you can - Rich on Lead
Guitar, Danny Vinson on Bass Guitar, and John Shadowens
on Drums make up this hard driving full sounding
blues band. All three playing since their youth
and this experience definitely shows. Rich even
did a year at the renown Berklee College of Music
in Boston and played in Nashville before settling
in southern Illinois.
This
solid CD has 11 tracks all of which have and kick
a solid groove.
Here’s a rundown of the tracks:
1 – One Day – Nice easy blues to get
it started. Good groove
2 – Name Your Poison – Great title track
that has cool chording
3 – We’ll See – My fave sound
– a slow painful blues. Get a beer and a butt
and enjoy
4 – Can’t Miss What Ya Never Had –
Back in the groove with a nice “counter”
blues
5 – Walk Me Home – This tracks along
like a fast Delta song should
6 – Lew’s Blooz – Super fast country
blues. Some Nashville influence here
7 – Runaway – Good R & B riffs.
The vocals stretch a bit though
8 – King of the World – Cool and clever..
Overdubbed I’d guess but very well
9 – One Tear Fell – Gritty blues get
a beer and a butt and enjoy
10 – Tears In The Rain – Beautiful guitar
demo of Rich’s skills
11 – Midnight Train – Great slide Delta
blues. My fave on the CD
In
person the RFB gets a 4.8 on the old STLBluesometer,
this CD gets a 4.4.
