Jimi Bott – Live Volume 1 Cheap Thrills Jimi Bott – Live Volume 1 Cheap Thrills
{2/8/05 - Roseleaf Records}

Jimi Bott, the drummer touring with the Fabulous Thunderbirds, has released his debut album depicting only some of his tremendous work through the years. The songs are never before released live tracks featuring many of today's finest blues artists including: Junior Watson, Kim Wilson, Rod Piazza, Honey Piazza, Kid Ramos, Mark Hummel, Kirk Fletcher and Alex Schultz to name a few.

A current resident of Portland, OR, when he is not on tour with the T-Birds, Jimi is a regular on the music scene there.

The track listing is as follows:

1. The Eliminator (Rod Piazza & the Mighty Flyers) -awesome tune that really showcases Rod as a fantastic player!

2. That's What You Do To Me (Junior Watson)-What can I say; I love Junior Watson and his guitar playing is one of the best in the business. This recording dates back to 1987.

3. Peter Gunn (Mark Hummel & the Blues Survivors featuring Luther Tucker)-spy music type instrumental w/ music legend Luther Tucker, recorded in 1985.

4. I'd Rather Be Blind, Crippled & Crazy (Fabulous Thunderbirds)-Really diggin' Kim's voice on this track.

5. Frosty (Curtis Smith & Mike Schermer)-another tasty instrumental.

6. Cheap Thrills (Fabulous Thunderbirds featuring Kid Ramos)-Kid is another one of my favs; listen to that beautiful guitar!

7. Jam Up!
(Alex Schultz)-my fav on the disc--hand clappin' toe tappin beat! This improvisation jam was recorded in 1992.

8. The Bumble Boogie/The Nutrocker (Honey Piazza) - Blistering drum/piano instrumental

9. Sing, Sing, Sing (Jimi Bott)-Jimi is highly regarded as one of the best blues drummers; just take a listen

10. Tribute to Gene, Buddy and Louis (Jimi Bott)-see previous comment

11. Ah'w Baby (Rod Piazza)-more Rod tearin' it up!!

This CD showcases many of my personal favorites and I give this disc 4.89 of 5 on the stlbluesometer! Learn more about Jimi at www.jimibott.com!
