Erma
plays the Arkansas Blues Fest (AKA
the King Biscuit) |
It's
an event that thousands wait all year for! Maybe it's
the location, deep in the Delta, surrounded by the
history of Helena and Clarksdale. Or maybe it's the
lineup of talent that acts as this musical magnet.
Whatever the draw, this year's Arkansas
Blues and Heritage fest is shaping up to be one
of the best in the 21 years of this event! Lots of
sunshine & blue skies added to the positives for
this year!
One of the highlights this year for STLBlues was placing
the Erma Whiteside band on the main stage! You may
remember this years Blues Royale, where Erma's band
won their slot down here at 'Da Biscuit'. Bennie
Smith was a member of Erma's band in the 2006
Blues Royale, and since STLBlues had a few minutes
on the main stage, we felt a few words in memory of
Bennie and Henry
Townsend were mandatory.
It's hard to say who enjoyed her show more, as Erma
was beaming with the excitement of playing this prestigious
event. Judging from the audience response, Erma won
a whole new legion of fans!
Other highlights - This year's opening
day had a Louisiana flavor, as the night closed with
Jumpin'
Johnny Sansone, followed by Tab
Benoit. Tab spent some time backstage sharing
the status of Louisiana, with an attentive group of
listeners. For an inside look at the environmental
issues of Louisiana (this affects ALL of us) please

Day 2 of the fest is here!
