Jerry
Minchey introduced St. Louis Jazz legend Jeanne Trevor, who in
her graceful and very elegant way served as host for this evening
of dynamic talent. Jeanne is well known throughout St. Louis as
a very talented Jazz singer, dating back to St. Louis' Gaslight
Square times of the 1960's. Carolbeth True was in charge of the
88's, with Eric Foreman on bass throughout the evening. and Mike
Gerard laying down a backbeat on the skins. Carolbeth is equally
as talented as a jazz pianist, or as a jazz educator/historian
who's taken her knowledge to students and audiences internationally.
Eric Foreman provided a strong bass line throughout the evening,
which he's quite acustomed to in his regular gig with The Mighty
Big Band.
The first act of the evening, husband and wife team Sharon and
Doug Foehner, showcased thier acoustic abilities and knowledge
of pre-war Blues with some outstanding covers of Memphis Minnie
and Son House. Sharon has performed with artists such as Johnnie
Johnson, Bennie Smith, James Crutchfield, Henry Townsend - a virtual
'who's who' of St. Louis Blues legends. Doug comes from a gifted
musical lineage, the son of traditional ragtime piano player Gale
Foehner.

Patti Thomas -

Glenn Changar of Patti & The Hitmen |
Following the Fab Foehners to the stage was the incredibly gifted
vocalist Angela Alexander, who unleashed her powerful voice on
'Dust my broom', and recieved a standing ovation for her rendition
of 'Cryin', a Roy Orbison tune. Truly a golden voice put to the
Blues!
Patrice "Patti" Thomas was next up on stage. Patti is
a long-time icon of the St. Louis Blues scene, ever since her
early days with Doc Terry and the Pirates nearly 30 years ago!
Backing Patti on harmonica was Glenn Changer, one of the finest
harpmen on the St. Louis circuit today, and a longtime 'hitman'
of Patti and the Hitmen!

Marsha Evans workin' the crowd |
Kim Massie followed Angela to the stage, and brought her gospel-tinged
Blues style and energy to the song stylings of Aretha Franklin,
and Etta James 'Damn your eyes'. Kim was joined by guitar maestro
Rich McDonough, who added his Blues talent to an already star-filled
night! The evening wasn't over yet, as Marsha Evans made her
way to center stage to share her sounds. Marsha, always a crowd
pleaser wherever she goes, soon had the house rockin' and everybody
on thier feet.
The
night ended magnificently, as multi-talented Denise Thimes took
the stage. Denise was the recipient of a Slammy award from the
Riverfront Times as best female vocalist in 1996. Her deep,
passionate sounds carried the evening to a crescendo, and ended
the night to a standing ovation! Truly a magical night of music,
and all for a very worthwhile cause!
