The
2002 Sparta Blues Fest review
Lots of great
talent continued in the form of W.C. Handy nominee Michael
Burks. His high octane, fiery guitar can drop way down in a smokey,
blues drenched ballad, then explode right back into a virtual Jimi Hendrix
experience. This was Michael's second straight year at the Sparta Bluesfest,
back by very popular demand!

Following Michael to the stage was Louisiana-born, Texas-raised multi-instrumentalist
Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown.
In addition to being a GRAMMY® recipient, Gatemouth Brown has been
inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame and is an eight-time
winner of the W.C. Handy Award. Hes also received the prestigious
Pioneer Award from the Rhythm & Blues Foundation. Welcome Gatemouth,
a living legend, still practicing his craft at the mere age of 77. A
fitting end to a spectacular Fest. Thanks goes out to Fest directors
Debi & Scott, and all the musicians and fans that help keep the
Blues alive
