Nick
Moss and the Fliptops Make Waves at the Beach Shack

When
my fiancé Piano Willie asked me if I would
like to come to Florida and the BEACH in March, I
responded with a very resounding “OH YEAH”!!!
Not only is the temperature in Milwaukee at least
50 degrees colder than Cocoa Beach FL, but I knew
I would have fun seeing blues and take in some sightseeing.
I
already knew the Beach Shack had a great atmosphere
and the people there are fabulous as we visited
the same location in late 2005; I wasn’t disappointed
this time either! The Beach Shack is just that.
It is a blues bar located right on the beach in
Cocoa Beach FL. They have a very nice patio station
where patrons may sit and admire the “eye
candy” of beach goers as well as soak in the
relaxing sounds of the Atlantic Ocean. I fell in
love with the surf, sand, and blues sounds at the
Beach Shack.
I
also have to say that the owner, Bill, has to be
one of the coolest club owners I have personally
met. He accommodated our every need (drinks, batteries
for my camera, and a spare restroom for VIPs only.)
The crowd was pretty silly and crazy but they all
seemed to dig Nick and the awesome band when they
played the Shack on March 4th and 5th. The band
consisted of Nick Moss, Piano Willie, Bob Carter,
and Gerry Hundt. Bob was a last minute fill in on
drums and has toured with greats such as Muddy Waters,
the Mighty Blue Kings and numerous Chicago blues
legends.
Nick
was wrapping up his month long tour and went all
over from New York to Florida. Nick’s latest
album, “Saddie Mae”, is doing quite
well on blues radio charts. You can follow Nick
and the guys’ whereabouts at www.nickmoss.com.
The band is also going to Europe in the summer.
