Eric
Bibb - Live Performance
February 3rd, 2007 at the Focal Point,
St. Louis
Last
time I saw Eric, he opened for Robin Ford at the
Touhill. Eric stole the show. So my anticipation
was very high when I heard of him playing at the
intimate Focal Point in Maplewood. He started the
show at 8:10pm, by 8:12 my wife and I were mesmerized.
Eric captured everyone’s (a packed house)
full attention for two 45 minute sets and three
standing ovations. Eric connected with his audience
through his many stories about life on the road
and shared how some songs he had written from the
new album were inspired. He performed many songs
off of the new album and even played a few old blues
classics from the 1940’s for all in attendance
including Stagolee. Eric's cd’s sold like
hotcakes at intermission and at the end of the show
and it seemed like everyone wanted to meet and greet
him. I stayed and we visited briefly after most
had left. We talked guitars and about heroes and
inspiration. To me, his music is one thing, but
taking the time to visit with people until the room
was empty is priceless. All and all, it was another
magical evening with Eric Bibb.
