Tab
Benoit and band played Generations recently "We can do it for awhile,
Louisiana Style".
Authentic to his roots, Tab was born on November 17, 1967, near Baton
Rouge. "Near" being the operative word.
"I was born on the bayou," the guitarist states without a hint
of pretense. "I didn't live in town. It was a bayou near Chauvin
called Petit Caillou," which in Cajun French means "little shell."
The Blues caught Tab early in life, at a life-changing Albert Collins
gig he caught at Tip's. (Benoit: "Is this guy worth seeing?"
Friend: "Don't leave").
Tab enjoyed the Generations audience on hand, "I know why you're
screaming, you want to get up on this stage and do your Karaoke".
Tab's stop at Generations was his first on this tour, as he left behind
the newest addition to the Benoit family, little 'Baby Tab', just 3 weeks
old!
Without exception, it's always a pleasure to catch this act, and this
evening's performance was no exception. Tab mixed his originals with a
few tributes to his idols, including a favorite Professor Longhair cut,
"Her mind is gone". Another enjoyable evening of Blues at Generations.
