Elvin
Bishop Getting’ My Groove Back
Released by Blind Pig Records in 2005
This
is pretty much classic Elvin Bishop-style. It’s
a little angry, a little soulful, and a little reflective.
All-in-all it was OK but not his best work. Keep
in mind I think his best work was probably with
the Butterfield Blues Band. Anyway, 9 cuts with
too many talented sidemen to list here. Not a travelin’
sized crew, but like 15 different players.
1 – What The Hell Is
Going On – Lonnie Mack influence here on the
guitar riffs
2 – I’ll be Glad – Nice drivin’
4 bar sound
3 – Swiss Dreams – Slow Bluesy version
of the old Don Williams CW hit
4 – That’s my thing - ??OK??
5 – Blues Train – Nice shuffle beat
sounds like the intro song for a live set
6 – He’s A Dog – Could cut this
out ??
7 – Got TO Be New Orleans – Good dance
beat
8 – Come On Blues – Cool cut Good mojo
9 – Party ‘Til The Cows Come Home –
Good piano good horn blues
As
I said earlier OK but not his best work, but still
a 4.3 on the STLBluesometer.
Later
– Gator.
