The 9th Anniversary of the Old Webster Jazz & Blues Festival

The 2009 Old Webster Jazz & Blues Festival is now a pleasant memory. Long a favorite of St. Louis music lovers, this years Old Webster Jazz & Blues Festival was no exception. This years festival was dedicated to Mr. Johnnie Johnson, a St. Louis piano legend who headlined this event many times.

The producers of this event added a new twist this year. If you happened to be on Lockwood Ave, you may have joined in the New Orleans 2nd line going up and down the sidewalk, led by the irresistible sounds of the Funky Butt Brass Band.

There was a good blend of Jazz and Blues, something for everyone's taste. Some highlights were The Dog Town All Stars adding their own special feeling of funk to the day, the longtime favorite Soulard Blues Band, the vocal stylings of Anita Rosamond leading the St. Louis Jazz & Blues Revue, and the 'rat pack' sounds of Wild, Cool and Swinging. The weather turned from sunshine to bouts of cloudy and drizzle, but the music continued, and the festival went on! We can't recommend this event enough, plan your 2010 music calendar to include the Old Webster Jazz and Blues Festival, and tell them STLBlues sent you!
