The
Mighty, Mighty Neville Brothers played the Pageant
recently, and showed off their explosive fusion of diversity and unity.
From their
beginnings on Valence street - the street in Uptown New Orleans where
they grew up - their path led them right here to St. Louis. Valence Street
is their spiritual center – for their mother, their father, their
Uncle Jolly, the fabled Mardi Gras Wild Tchoupitoulas Indian Chief. A
long time favorite of their hometown, each year they are also the final
act for the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, closing the show
on 700 bands and 7 days of music!
At the Pageant, the feeling in the air was filled with funk, soul, zydeco,
reggae and blues, as the Neville Brothers combined all these styles into
a sound uniquely their own. Here's a small gallery of the evening, we
hope you enjoy!
