Renee'
Austin was born in San Diego, California. She
moved to Texas at the age of 3, growing up in
the small town of Kingsland. By the age 4, she
knew she wanted to be a singer, and her 1st performance
was in the Andre Crouch Classic, in a small country
Church. By the age of 15, she wrote her 1st song,
and it became clear that she wanted to tour and
perform and record.
Renee' Austin is a Blind Pig recording artist
who has a wide range of style. She has been compared
to Billy Holiday and Janis Joplin, with nearly
a 5 octave range and stunning vocal dynamics.
Renee Austin convincingly demonstrates that she's
not simply up-and-coming, but mingles gracefully
into the company of other esteemed singer-song
writers greats. Her music styles range from a
simple ballard to the blues and then house rocking
gospel, and even a little bit of rock and roll.
She looks up to her mentor, music artist Delbert
McClinton, grammy winning Master of Texas road
house music. The pair recorded the song "Pretend
We Never Met" on the "Sweet Talk"
CD...on the Blind Pig record label.
Austin has shared the stage with such greats as
Blues Travelers, Big Head Todd, and the Monster's,
Keb Mo and Robert Cray.
Some of her accomplishments are as follows: Four
Minnesota Music Academy Awards, and a nomination
for a W.C. Handy award in the "Best New Artist
Debut".
The band members are: Drums-Mark Bohn, Bass-Charles
Hayes, Guitar-Baby Jake, Key Boards-Jon "JC"
Deville Coleman.
She has several CD's: "Dancin with Mr. Blue"
and "Sweet Talk", both on Blind Pig
label. You can get more information about Renee'
Austin on
her website RENEE' AUSTIN.com or go to the
Blind Pig record label website, by the same name....
I enjoyed myself the night she played here in
the St. Louis, Mo area...If she ever comes your
way...make it a point to go and see and hear her,
you won't be disappointed...I wasn't...Thank you
for a great time....
