Michael
Burks plays St. Louis |
So
close but yet so far...has to be the way that
Michael Burks felt during the past WC Handy blues
rewards for the 2004...a nominee of this year
blues rewards...but as far as I am concern..he
will always be NO. 1 here in the St. Louis area
and to me and the blues fan's..he is a blues brother
to us all....and the night that he performed at
BB's ...he put on a show for all to remember....and
inspire then to come back and listen to his deep
down feeling blues...and when he plays one of
his many guitars he plays each guitar with a different
feeling which he makes sings with every drop of
sweat from his brow which the sound that comes
straight from his soul....there is no doubt that
Michael Burks can entertain with the best of them..just
asked his audiences...
Michael Burks was born in Cameden Arkansas, in
1957 and he started playing a guitar at the age
of 2. By the time he was the age of 6, he started
performing on stage with his cousin in his home
town of Cameden. His father also a blues artist
and played alongside such greats as Sonny Boy
Williamson II...as you can see it runs in the
family...
Michael Burks records on the Alligator Record
label and has several cd's out there...and you
can check him out on his website....Michael Burks....
I have had the pleasure of photographing him...and
he is one of a kind, very down home person and
I never miss him when he is in town....because
I am never disappointed. I got to know Michael
and the band...and they all deserve the recognition
of being one of the best blues bands around today....and
I will be waiting for his next arrival.....thank
you for a great time Michael....
