The
2006 Blues Royale |
It's
over, the 2006 Blues Royale. It's our biggest effort
here at STLBlues to showcase all the incredible talent
that call the St. Louis area their home! 15 bands
competed in 4 exciting concerts, and the winners this
year are 15 year-old Marquise Knox
in our Acoustic competition, and the Erma
Whiteside band winning the electric band
competition.
Possibilities this event brings the bands is our entire
reason for the Blues Royale, and this year offered
two prizes - the Erma Whiteside band will
play the main stage of one of the world’s most
popular blues festivals, the Arkansas Blues &
Heritage Festival (formerly known as the King Biscuit
Blues Festival).

The St. Louis Blues Society was on
hand to present Erma with a check, to help her get
down to the fest!
Additionally, Erma Whiteside and Marquise Knox will
be on 'The Set', a
thirty-minute television program dedicated to showcasing
the best Midwest music talent! The show format consists
of a set of the artist’s best twenty-four minutes
of original performance footage. Charter Communications
launched the series to assist the artistic community
by providing extensive exposure and promotional support
to the musical community spotlighting the best in
local Midwest bands and musical artists performing
original tunes.
Musically this was one of the best events STLBlues
has produced, and we're glad to send these talented
musicians on to even more exposure. Thanks goes out
to all those who helped make this event possible -
the Lucas
School House for providing such a great venue,
the sponsors KDHX
88.1 FM, Crescendo
Drums, Fazio's
Frets and Friends, Broke
and Hungry Records, the judges, the fans and supporters,
and especially the musicians. Thanks for helping keep
the Blues alive! We'll see you where the Blues are,
until then here's our photo gallery, enjoy!
