STLBlues :: A Blues Music eZine

The Casino Queen Beach Blast is one of the best Blues events you'll likely find anywhere! 500 tons of sand made the "Beach", and the "Blast" began with the excitement of the Fair St. Louis air show, followed by the musical talent of Kelley Hunt, Johnnie Johnson, Shemekia Copeland, with a special appearance by Hall Of Fame Football player Jackie Smith. Following the music was the 4th of July Fair St. Louis fireworks display under the Arch. The evening was far from done, as after the fireworks, the legendary John Mayall & the Blues Breakers took the stage! The Blues breakers formed in 1963, and thier first recordings had a distinct R'n'B feel to them. When Eric Clapton came on board from the Yardbirds early in '65 they switched to a more purist blues sound. Fast forward almost 30 years later, and this british musical icon is still out here performing- for a very appreciative crowd - and was a great ending for a really fun event!
