Recently
one of the hardest working bands took the stage at the Broadway
Oyster Bar, Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers. Rod Piazza came
up as part of the same musical generation as Paul Butterfield
-the first generation of white blues fans and players who in
the early 1960s were embracing the driving urban blues sounds
of post-war Chicago, Memphis, Texas and California. Honey Piazza
had the fortune to study with one of the greats, Mr. Otis Spann.
With Rod on vocals and harmonica, Honey on keyboard they demonstrated
why they are still one of the hottest Blues acts playing today.
Together with longtime Flyer Bill Stuve on electric Kay, bass
guitar, acoustic bass, and Henry Carvajal on guitar, Bill Stuve
on acoustic upright bass, and Paul Fasulo on drums, they are
collectively known as the Mighty Flyers! If you missed this
show, don't miss this weekends performance at the Nothing
But The Blues Festival - just a short hop to Bloomington,
IL.
