Rod Piazza & The Mighty Flyers - The Chosen Who  Rod Piazza & The Mighty Flyers - The Chosen Who
{2005 | Delta Groove}
The Chosen Who features a 12-track length album & bonus (the making of the album) DVD. Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers have been playin’ the blues for a long time. “Rod has always been a favorite of mine and this CD is only one of the reasons why. He has a great tone, great band, and great style.” – Shannon. Cornbread says “Piazza is a masterful bluesman. Never does he overshadow the band.”

SPECIAL GUEST ARTISTS:

Phil Guy - guitar / Finis Tasby - bass & background vocals / James Gadsen - drums / Kid Ramos - guitar / Johnny Dyer - vocals / Randy Chortkoff - harmonica / Cynthia Manley - background vocals / Amy Keys - background vocals / Jesica Williams - background vocals / Robbyn Kirmsee - background vocals / David Woodford – horns

CD Tracks:

1. I'm A Love You (Jimmy Reed) – the opener is a bit of a boogie.

2. You Can Make It If You Try – kind of a of 50’s sound with blues guitar in the background.

3. Broken Hearted Blues (James A. Lane) – ‘lectric blues with rhaspy vocals, keys and harmonica. Mmm mmm good.

4. She Made My Blood Run Cold (Ike Turner) – almost gospel-like, R&B’esque and a bit country-blues.

5. Shoestring – fast paced, upbeat instrumental.

6. Ground Hog Blues (Sonny Boy #1) - great classic; reminiscent of a "Crawlin' Kingsnake" melody. This was Cornbread’s favorite lil’ ditty.

7. Description Of A Fool – Chicago style blues. Excellent vocals.

8. Trace Of You (James A. Lane) – slow, precise vocals, plenty of harmonica, guitar and lots of piano.

9. Honey's Blues - Rod’s wife Honey treats us to a slow bluesin' piano instrumental.

10. Got To Find My Baby (Little Walter) – Shannon’s favorite song on the disc; excellent duo w/ Johnny Dyer, bit of a swing.

11. Call Me Dangerous – boogie woogie piano blues.

12. Blues Player - could be the description of Rod's life; reminds me of a "Since I Met You Baby" melody
