Hired Help

Hired HelpIt was the spring of ’98 when guitarist Alvin Jett and keyboardist Nick Georgeoff met at an “open mic” night jam session held at a local club on Sunday afternoons. There was an instant chemistry; a certain simpatico. Al’s lightning guitar backed by Nick’s soulful Hammond organ styles brought about a harmonious style of blues and a certain atmosphere wherever they played. That was not only the beginning of a great musical project but of a great friendship as well.

The Hired Help began as a four piece rhythm and blues band consisting of original members Alvin Jett (guitar and vocals), Nick Georgeoff (keyboards), Jon Fulmer (bass and vocals), and Marty Spikener (drums and vocals).

Only a few short months into the project, at a live performance, they meet saxophonist and vocalist Frank Bauer. Frank sits in for a few tunes and the next day was asked to join the band. Frank’s sax and vocal abilities add a completely new dimension to the overall sound of the band.

Within a short time the band was performing at most of St. Louis’ better rhythm and blues venues, gaining in popularity quickly. Today, The Hired Help is playing four or five live shows weekly, performing at larger venues and rhythm and blues festivals, and even opening up for nationally acclaimed acts!

Today’s band consists of Alvin Jett (guitar and vocals), Frank Bauer (sax and vocals), Nick Georgeoff (keys), Julius “Julio” Walker (bass and vocals), and Anthony Evans (drums and vocals).

If you have never seen them “live”, check them out soon. These guys are great and are amazing to watch. This band will keep you coming back for more with their neo-rhythmic blues style!
