"The jam session that Alvin Jett and Matt Davis hold every Tuesday at Highway 61 in Webster Groves is in danger of going under. This is a very cool and laid back jam session for musicians of all levels of talent. Students of all ages are welcome and are encouraged to hone their craft. The gig is from 7:30pm to 11:30, so it is early enough for those in school and with day jobs to get their groove on and still get up the next morning. There is also no cover charge. The last show is scheduled for Tuesday, June 19. We still have a few weeks left to show the owner that the jam session at Highway 61 Roadhouse & Kitchen is of value to the community."

CHICAGO BLUES HARMONICA LEGEND CAREY BELL 1936 - 2007
Blues harmonica master Carey Bell died on May 6, 2007 of heart failure in his hometown of Chicago, IL. He was 70. Bell - the 1998 winner of the Blues Music Award for Traditional Male Artist Of The Year - was a veteran of both Muddy Waters' and Willie Dixon's bands as well as an award-winning solo artist, and a guest artist on countless blues recordings. Bell's classic, funky and deeply soulful blues place him firmly on the short list of blues harmonica superstars.

Jazzfest weekend 2, days 2 & 3. Blues skies and warm weather were the order of the weekend, and there was little evidence there had been any rain at all! The caliber and diversity of music is what makes this event so amazing, and this year was no different. Highlights that come to mind are J. Monque' D, the Allman Brothers, Steely Dan, and closing with Taj Mahal. A world class event like this is something everyone must do, and repeat as often as necessary!

Jazzfest weekend 2, day 1. STLBlues braved the 1st 3 hours of the torrential rains (5 1/2"), being the seasoned fest warriors we are. When the midway path around the Acura stage became a river 50' wide and 3' deep, and a couple on an inflatable couch floated on by, we called it a day! Of course, as soon as we left the fest grounds the skies let up and the music resumed! They take this in stride down here in the Big Easy, and tell us the weather will be great tomorrow
! (Tab Benoit and Rockin' Dopsie at the Rock N' Bowl helped fill that musical void very nicely!)

"I had a chance to preview Los Lonely Boys cover of John Lennon's "Whatever Gets You Thru The Night" - this song will be part of an all-star line-up of artists featured on Instant Karma: The Campaign To Save Darfur. LLB's rockin'-Texican blues version is outstanding! Buy the CD just for this song!" ~ Cornbread
