"B.B.
King--There Is Always One More Time"
{2005 | Backbeat Books}
A new 352 page book about the Blues Ambassador
and undisputed King of the blues, B.B. King, will be released
on September 16th, 2005 in honor of B.B.’s 80th Birthday.
This book was written by David McGee,
author of Go, Cat, Go: The Life and Times of Carl Perkins, The
King of Rockabilly. McGee is also known for his contributions
to Rolling Stone and as assistant curator for the Rock and Roll
Hall of Fame.
McGee combines both biography and discography, from B.B.’s
childhood in rural Mississippi as well as interviews with producers
and musicians that were part of B.B.’s recordings/sessions.
What book on B.B. would complete without how a brawl led to
the naming of King’s number one gal – Lucille?
While
this book covers the King of the blues it should be considered
a research aid on B.B.’s 51-year long career. I enjoyed
the historical aspect as detailed information for each recording
session included dates, musicians, songs, songwriters and even
includes the producers and engineers.
Also
note that B.B. will be playing in St. Louis Friday, September
23, 2005, at the Laumeier Blues Festival!
Ciao' for now, peace.
