Once
again, it's our annual journey down south for the Arkansas
Blues and Heritage Festival - it'll always be the King Biscuit
to us!. If you've ever wanted to truly capture the feeling that
being down in the Delta can give, this fest delivers! Nestled in
legendary Blues geography, there's a tapestry of blues that streches
back to the roots. Robert Johnson, the 'Crossroads', juke joints
like Red's, the Delta Blues Museum, 'Sunshine'
Sonny Payne and KFFA radio, Cat
Head delta blues and folk art, Tent City, USA, and so much more.
A wealth of blues history and music will surround you, but you'll
have to experience for yourself just what turns visitors into life-long
'biscuitheads'!
Our friend Bob Corritore
is attending the 'Biscuit', and on Saturday, October 6, 2007, to
celebrate their new release on Blue
Witch Records, Travelin' The Dirt Road, Dave Riley and Bob
Corritore will host a CD release party in conjunction with the
Arkansas Blues & Heritage Festival at the Delta
Cultural Center Annex, 223 Cherry Street, Helena, AR, 72342,
and admission is free! There will be a one-hour performance starting
at 3pm, followed by a CD signing. Thanks to Terry Buckalew (from
the Delta Cultural Center) for his work there behind the scenes.
Then, on Sunday, Bob will have the honor of attending Pinetop's
homecoming celebration at Hopson’s
Plantation in Clarksdale, Mississippi. There is a big commissary,
which has been converted into a bar, and once again, this year the
host band is Willie
"Big Eyes" Smith, including many special guests such
as Pinetop
Perkins (of course), Bob Margolin, and many more.
While you're in Clarksdale on the 7th, stop on by the Cat
Head Mini Juke Joint Festival, and make a day of it! Make sure
and tell them all STLBlues sent you! Here's a peek at last
year's King Biscuit!
