River
Splash ended their season with a bang, actually a successive series of bangs,
as the fireworks and laser water show brought the evening - and this spectacular
concert series - to a close.
A record crowd completely filled the Riverfront
- some estimate almost 300,000 - for the man known as the Night Tripper, also
known as Dr. John, and for the legendary King of the Blues, Mr. B.B. King.
St.
Louis fans started to arrive early, filling the steps of the Arch, and every inch
of real estate on the riverfront, fans just wanting to hear B.B. and his famed
guitar Lucille. These two icons of the music world served them just what they
came for, lots of cool funk and hot blues.
Kudos to the Celebrate 2004 organization - the folks who bought you the River
Splash - for bringing a great season of sights and sounds to the St. Louis Riverfront!
Our
only question at STLBlues is.... will River Splash be back next year?
