The 15th Annual combination motorcycle parade and Blues concert benefiting
the Stevie Ray Vaughan Memorial Scholarship Fund will take place on
Saturday and Sunday, October 3 and 4 at various locations in and around
Dallas, Texas. The police escorted parade departs from the world's
largest Hooters in Dallas' West End, proceeds 30 miles to Cowboys
in Arlington for the Sunday afternoon concert starring The Edgar Winter
Group, followed by an all-star jam at Sons of Hermann Hall in Dallas,
Texas. The weekend warms up with the SRV Pre-Party at East Texas Choppers
in Terrell, Texas.
A custom S.R.V. Tribute Guitar built by Texas Guitar Workshop will
be raffled at the concert. Also included in the package is a SRV replica
guitar strap by Christian Brooks, a copy of You Can't Stop A Comet
by Cutter Brandenburg, and a copy of Stevie Ray Vaughan – Day
By Day, Night After Night by Craig Hopkins. Raffle tickets are $5.00
and can be purchased through the event website and at each venue on
October 3 & 4, need not be present to win.
All proceeds benefit the S.R.V. Memorial
Scholarship Fund established by Martha Vaughan, Stevie's mother.
The scholarships are awarded to middle school students at W.E. Greiner
Middle School in Oak Cliff upon completion of their eighth grade
year. The students may apply the scholarship to the college of their
choice upon high school graduation.
In
1991 Governor Ann Richards proclaimed October 3rd as “Stevie
Ray Vaughan Day” in the state of Texas, which is celebrated
the first Sunday each October.
