FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Industry veteran Tim Weber has signed on to provide strategic management consulting and talent buying duties for theOld Rock House, located at 1200 South 7th Blvd in downtown St. Louis. Weber, best known for his ten years at the helm of legendary St. Louis music club Mississippi Nights, believes the pieces are all in place for the Old Rock House to quickly become the destination concert venue in St. Louis.
“This building, outside and inside, is one of the most aesthetically impressive spots in the country to see live music,” Weber said. The renovated Old Rock House building, which borrows its name from a historic riverfront building dismantled in 1959 to make way for the Gateway Arch, features 6,000 square feet on three distinct levels, a state-of-the-art sound, light and video system and a menu created by award-winning chef Mark Renaud.
Weber believes this combination will allow for a new experience unlike any other in the St. Louis music scene. “Our mission is to present live music in the most creative, comfortable, exciting and meaningful way in the entire country,” Weber said. “We are going to focus on the performance as a whole, from the perspective of both the artist and the customer. The old way of thinking is that a rock club needs to be dirty and rude in order to be authentic. We hope to change that way of thinking- or at least to open people’s minds to a new and different way.” More than just a concert venue, the Old Rock House will now brand its restaurant as a separate entity, to be called The Smoke Joint at the Old Rock House.
“This is more than just a branding change,” Weber said. “This is an operational change. We are going to upgrade the menu and reconfigure the layout so that the Smoke Joint can be an exceptional destination for casual business lunches and happy hours. Mark is a phenomenal chef and has created a brilliantly elegant yet casual menu featuring his award-winning barbecue and great seasonal fare.” A concert-friendly menu, which the Old Rock House calls “the venue menu,” will be available to concert-goers throughout the evening as well.
Confirmed shows on the Old Rock House calendar at this point include: Two very special evenings with Todd Snider, A post Mardi Gras party with The Radiators, a solo performance by Lemonheads frontman Evan Dando, a solo electric performance from buzzworthy Norwegian singer-songwriter Sondre Lerche, a Valentine’s dinner party with blues entertainer of the year Janiva Magness. a set by local favorite Javier Mendoza, and a date with Bloomington, IL. based Backyard Tire Fire- with many more announcements to come in the following weeks.
