The Legendary Rhythm & Blues Revue is back at it and may be
the best show on the road today. Back to their original lineup of
Tommy Castro, Ronnie Baker Brooks, Deanna Bogart, and Magic Dick,
that is a pretty easy call. On a run of fourteen dates through April
3 on the East Coast and Midwest, this is the show to catch in the
next couple of weeks.
BluesWax Publisher Chip Eagle caught the
Revue at the Tampa Bay Blues Festival this week and had this to
say, “Tampa Bay had one of the better lineups on the festival
circuit this year and the Legendary Revue was the highlight. Each
of the stars took a turn at the front and then they all came together
to jam. Just like on the Blues Cruise! You just can’t beat
it! Magic Dick sounded as good as I’ve heard him and what
can I say about the Professor, Deanna Bogart, literally going eye
to eye on piano with Ronnie Baker Brooks on guitar? I can say, ‘This
is the shit!’ I couldn’t recommend this show more highly.
It’s might be the Blues bargain of the year!”
The Legendary Revue is backed by Scot Sutherland
on bass (who is quickly becoming one of our favorite bassmen) and
Ronnie Smith on drums. The whole thing is augmented by Keith Crossan
and Tom Poole on horns and a highlight of the Revue is when they
combine with the sax appeal of Deanna Bogart for a center-stage
brass jam.
