Get Yo' Kicks on Gaye's 66th |

Gaye Adegbalola may no longer be a “Saffire,” but she’s burning bright and getting her kicks on Route 66. She reports in her current newsletter, “As you probably know, Saffire (the Uppity Blues Women) played its final concert on November 7, 2009. It was absolutely incredible! I sincerely thank all of you who attended -- I was overwhelmed to see so many out-of-towners -- not to mention local friends from over the years, and sincere thanks to those who were there in spirit.
Please know that all three of us plan to continue making music, but in different "incarnations." At my age, I figure if I don't try something new now, I might not be able to later. Sixty-six is on the horizon and I need to get my "shake" on while I can. "Since Saffire's end, I've been enjoying a little R&R -- even had a mini-vacation. But, come February, it's time for me to get back to work. As the saying goes, "the baby need shoes!" I ask for your continued support -- see schedule below.
And, I am now available for bookings -- as a workshop presenter or speaker, as a solo performer, in duo, or as Miz A with the Freedom Band (six-piece electric Blues). Please keep me/us in mind if you want something out of the ordinary. Saffire has been nominated for Best Acoustic Album of the year at the Blues Music Awards for "Havin' the Last Word." Also, the Saffire documentary, "Hot Flash," has been nominated for Best Blues DVD of the year. Saffire's own Ann Rabson is also nominated for Best Traditional Female Blues Artist of the year. Of course, we'd love to have your vote. To see a full listing of the nominees and to learn how you can become a member (if you aren't already) and vote, visit http://www.blues.org/bluesmusicawards.
In all of Saffire's twenty-five years, Saffire has never won a BMA. It's now or never. . ."
