Bluzapalooza's
Blues Boss Steve Simon has informed BluesWax that due to the intense
ongoing U.S. troop build up in Afghanistan the military brass in that
war zone have asked that all entertainment tours be put on hold until
late 2009 or early 2010. Bluzapalooza is the organization that works
with Armed Forces Entertainment to takes the best in Blues to the
troops serving on the front line. Based on this news the planned Bluzapalooza
tour of Afghanistan has been indefinitely postponed, though Simon
told us that he hopes to have a tour scheduled in the fall.
As a result, Bluzapalooza will be producing
a series of concerts at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington,
D.C., the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, and
the Brook Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio,
Texas, to entertain the men and woman in uniform who are patients
at these facilities, as well as those who are providing their care.
"I am honored to be able to bring some
of our country's greatest Blues artists to entertain some of our
country's bravest men and woman and those who are taking care of
them," stated Steve Simon, founder and producer of Bluzapalooza.
