Blues
Competition in Washington:
The Washington Blues Society, based
in Seattle, Washington, will host local competitions to send a band
and a solo/duo act to the 2010 International Blues Challenge (IBC).
The semi-final band competition will be held Sunday, July 26, at the
Highway 99 Blues Club in Seattle. The semi-final solo/duo competition
will be held Sunday, August 9, at Seattle’s New Orleans Creole
Restaurant. Finalists in each category will compete in the finals
on Sunday, August 23 at the Highway 99 Blues Club.
One
winner in each category will represent the WBS in the 2010 IBC in
Memphis, January 20-23, 2010. For more information, go to wablues.org.
New
York Battle of the Bands:
The New York Blues and Jazz Society’s Battle of The Bands
will be held at Mexicali Live, 1409 Queen Anne Road, Teaneck, New
Jersey, on Sunday afternoon October 4 at 4 p.m.
All
bands interested must submit their CD and letter of intent to The
New York Blues and Jazz Society, IBC Competiton, 134 Overlook Street,
Mount Vernon, New York 10552 and if selected be there and ready to
compete. All the rules should be followed, which require a current
band membership in the New York Blues and Jazz Society. Rules are
posted to the Blues Foundation website at blues.org. You need to compete
on October 4 and be prepared to attend the International Blues Competition
in Memphis representing NYB&JS on January 20 through 23, 2010.
The deadline for applications is August 25. Tickets to the Battle
