Back
to the River |
Thanks to Mother Nature the July 19 “Blues On the River”…
is back on the river! Flooding of the Kaskaskia River in Evansville
Illinois had totally covered the venue site, forcing the BluesFest
Committee to seek higher ground.
But as of Tuesday, July 8 “the waters are receding and we are
ready to roll on the river!” says BluesFest chair Debi Klausing.
She adds ”we cannot believe how much support and extra effort
the people in Evansville put in to make sure the BluesFest goes off
this year. Every time an obstacle has popped up, someone has offered
a solution, including an offer to build a new stage on the ball diamond.”
The only thing tentative at this point is the Wakeboarding show previously
scheduled for 11:30am, but the rest of the day is on track with the
Homegrown Blues Review kicking things off at 2:00pm. The rest of the
line up features the Los Carnales Blues band at 3:50pm, The Melissa
Neels Band at 5:40pm, Lew Jetton and 51 South at 7:30pm and headliner
Billy Peek takes the stage at 9:30.
As always there will be free parking (located behind the FS buildings0
and admission has stayed an affordable $10 a person. There will be
plenty of food vendors, BluesFest Merchandise and beverage sales all
day. No coolers or pets are allowed.
So bring your lawn chairs, blankets, shade tents and sun screen and
join in the Sparta BluesFest’s Blues on the River along the
Kaskaskia riverfront in Evansville, Illinois on Saturday July 19.
