This
year there will be a special harmonica presentation for the
kids at the festival sponsored by "The Blues Blowtorch
Society" on Saturday. Harmonicas will be given to the kids
participating in the workshop. David Berntson of Tulsa, Oklahoma,
is an educator and a musician. In 1986, David founded the Tulsa
Blues Club, a non-profit 501 © 3 organization dedicated
to supporting Blues Music in the Tulsa area. In 1991 he was
awarded the "Keeping the Blues Alive in Education"
award from the National Blues Foundation in Memphis, Tennessee,
for his "Blues in the Schools" program.
A
native of Galesburg, Illinois, David has musical roots in the
Midwest, including playing with the Pine St. Persuaders, a group
of blues enthusiasts dating back over 25 years. He has come
back to the Quad Cities every year since the first Mississippi
Valley Blues Festival held in Hampton, Illinois for reunions
with family and friends. David's gift of connecting with people,
especially children, and his passion for the blues are apparent
in every one of his presentations
