Marquise
and The Blue Shoe Project
|
Marquise
Knox is just back from Dallas, Texas, where he is a participating
member of the ‘Blue
Shoe Project’. The Blue Shoe Project is self described
as ‘The little non-profit organization from Texas, dedicated
to the advancement of America's Music’.
The father and son team of Jeffrey and Michael Dyson, who co-founded
the nonprofit organization the Blue Shoe Project to bring the blues
to classrooms across Texas, took home the award for best traditional
blues album.
Last of the Great Mississippi Delta Bluesmen: Live in Dallas beat
out records from Pinetop Perkins, Koko Taylor and Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
It was the Blue Shoe Project’s first-ever Grammy nomination.
Henry Townsend, our late great Blues patriarch, earned a Grammy
posthumously on this project, and Marquise mentored quite a lot
with Henry. In essence the ‘Blues Torch’ has been passed
on, and Marquise is certainly keeping it red hot!
