"Bringing
a whole new generation of talent back to the crossroads where the
blues began!"
On Friday, May 9th, Delta Groove Music continues the annual tradition

documented on film for an upcoming television special. You can expect

Jackie
Payne Steve Edmonson Band: (Nominee for Soul Blues Artist of the
Year)
Timeless Rhythm & Blues delivered with style and flair that
recall the soulful sounds of Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding and
Bobby 'Blue' Bland. The Jackie Payne Steve Edmonson Band delivers
a sweaty, energetic funky good time that would make James Brown
'The Godfather of Soul' proud.
-----------------------------------------------------
Phillip
Walker: (Nominee for Traditional Male Blues Artist of the Year)
Legendary
Gulf Coast guitarist whose pedigree comes from a long line of
influential blues guitar masters including T-Bone Walker, Clarence
?Gatemouth? Brown, Frankie Lee Sims and Lonesome Sundown. Phillip
Walker truly is one of the last of his generation that combines
the swampy flavor of Louisiana, the stinging tone of the Lone
Star State of Texas, and the swinging sophistication of West Coast
Blues.
-----------------------------------------------------
The
Insomniacs: (Nominee for Best New Artist Debut)
Contagiously
infectious jump blues and swing which draws inspiration from such
West Coast luminaries as Alex Schultz, Hollywood Fats, Little
Charlie and Junior Watson. The Insomniacs have proven in just
a short amount of time that they have what it takes to carry this
music forward for future generations to come.
-----------------------------------------------------
Los
Fabulocos featuring Kid Ramos: (Nominee for Best Blues Guitarist)
A spicy and tantalizing blend of Tex Mex, Blues, R&B and Rock-A-Billy
delivered with honesty, sincerity and passion. Los Fabulocos?
special brand of roots oriented music shares much in common with
the sounds of such pioneering acts as Los Lobos, the Texas Tornados
and the Hacienda Brothers and is powered by the muscular tone
of Kid Ramos? slashing guitar.
-----------------------------------------------------
Lynwood
Slim:
His
tasteful and sophisticated approach to music blurs the lines between
jazz and blues. Lynwood Slim incorporates his unique sense of
swing with strong ensemble playing and smooth vocals, and can
easily move between the amplified Chicago harp styles of Big Walter
Horton to the relaxed West Coast ease of George ?Harmonica? Smith.
-----------------------------------------------------
Jason
Ricci & New Blood:
A
sonically explosive ensemble that crisscrosses the audible landscape
and envelopes all forms of music stylistically in their path.
Jason Ricci is that rare individual that comes along once in a
generation with the unique ability to redefine the role of his
instrument (the harmonica) and forever change the course of music
history.
-----------------------------------------------------
Mike
Zito:
Powerful
original songwriting, richly expressive vocals, and intense solo
guitar work are the foundation upon with which Zito builds to
deliver his positive messages about love, compassion and respect.
Mike Zito unashamedly and openly wears his heart on his sleeve
permitting the listener to take a journey into the mind of this
uniquely introspective and gifted artist.
-----------------------------------------------------
John Black:
An amalgamation of the African American musical heritage which
combines soul, gospel, funk and hip-hop, while tracing its roots
all the way back to its humble origins - the blues. John Black
infuses his uniquely crafted music with contemporary urban rhythms
and hauntingly earthy acoustic slide guitar which pays tribute
to the bygone era of Leadbelly, Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker.
And
lots of special guests!
