"Celebrating
the Blues"
Dr. John & His Band - Charlie Musselwhite - Shemekia Copeland | Saturday,
Nov. 6, 8 p.m.
The
Touhill Performing Arts Center presents two distinguished
blues icons and one of the hottest up and coming talents in
"Celebrating the Blues" on Saturday, November 6 at
8 p.m.
One of music's most distinctive voices and four time Grammy
Award-winner Dr. John is the living embodiment of the rich,
musical New Orleans heritage. Harmonica virtuoso and winner
of 14 WC Handy Awards, Charlie Musselwhite's characteristic
sound finds its roots in rural Mississippi, but effortlessly
transfers to the blues clubs of Memphis, Chicago and St. Louis.
Daughter of blues guitar legend Johnny Clyde Copeland, the Washington
Post describes Shemekia Copeland as, "Hot and haunting,
Copeland doesn't come across as an entertainer so much as a
force of nature."
On stage for the first time ever, these three giants of blues
create an unforgettable night of soulful music. Never has feeling
so bad sounded this good!
