“This has become THE outdoor event in June!” says
Randy Hoffman, BBS President. He is talking about a weekend festival
featuring the Central Illinois Blues Challenge on Sunday afternoon.
There will be eight bands competing with the event starting about
noon. Bands play 30 minute sets with 10 minute change-over. Bring
lawn chairs, but no outside alcohol. Wine and beer will be served
there. Food will also be available. Many of the bands will have their
CDs and merchandise available at the BBS tent, so plan to buy some
of the music you like.
Delta Frank Black, Membership Director and Lick Skillet, AL alumnus,
will be signing up new members and giving out prize CDs to new members!

The winner of the Central Illinois Blues Challenge will be sent to
Memphis in early 2008 to compete as our representative in the International
Blues Challenge. We have 8 bands that are interested in competing
for the trip to Memphis.
Bands
will be judged by the same criteria that are used in Memphis for the
International competition. Each judged band is awarded points based
on Blues Content, Talent, and Stage Presence. Full details about scoring
criteria and official rules are available at the Blues Foundation
web site (www.blues.org).
