The
Blues Foundation is now soliciting recommendations for persons to
be considered for nomination to The Blues Foundation’s Board
of Directors. To be considered, the individual must be a current member
of The Blues Foundation and must be recommended by three current members.
If you are a member and wish to recommend someone, please: (1) ascertain
from that person that they are indeed ready, willing and able to serve;
and (2) secure two other members to join you in recommending that
person; (3) send an e-mail from each of the three nominators to jay@blues.org
advising of the recommendation; and (4) send a short statement in
support of the nomination (200 word maximum) and a digital photo (150
x 150) pixels.
All of these items must be completed before the nomination will be
considered. The nominations must be received on or before Wednesday
June 25. Board members are expected to attend up to four meetings
a year, help raise funds for the support of Foundation programs, recruit
new members and help guide the organization in a strategic manner.
In 2008, three constituencies will elect
Board members—the constituency of (1) recording labels, studios,
publishers and performance rights organizations; (2) the educator
and educational institutions constituency; and (3) the Blues fan
constituency. In addition, four seats will be filled by appointment
by vote of the current Board. The Nominating Committee will review
all submissions and prepare the slate of candidates and when this
is ready, the online voting will begin.
