BROKE & BLUE:: BIO

Formed in 2012, this group of four came together through their mutual love of the Blues. With well over 100 years of combined experience these guys really know how to perform and please the crowd in any venue.

Broke & Blue is a four piece band which features, Kevin Allen on lead guitar and vocals, Mark Sheets on piano/keyboards and vocals, Larry Campbell on drums and vocals, and Ed Newton on bass. Broke & Blue is fronted by lead guitarist and vocalist Kevin Allen. After playing the Blues scene in the UK for many years Kevin brought his Strat, aggressive Texas tone, and love for the Blues back to St Louis, the home of the Blues. Bassist Ed Newton, originally from the Pacific Northwest relocated to St Louis bringing along his many years of experience and style from the Portland, OR Blues scene. A Midwest native, Larry Campbell on drums and vocals holds it all together with his solid, clean and classic style. On the piano/keys, and vocals we have Mark Sheets, also a local native. Mark will lay down the background and boogie with the best of them which completes the full rich sound Broke & Blue has become known for.

Broke & Blue’s sound can best be described as Texas, Memphis, and St Louis Blues featuring smoking hot guitar, keyboards and vocals along with a steady grooving rhythm section. Along with originals Broke & Blue covers songs by some of the greatest influences such as Stevie Ray Vaughn, Ronnie Earl, Albert Collins, all of the Kings, Hendrix and many others. The best way to appreciate the electricity and talent of Broke & Blue is to catch a live performance, and when you do, it will be a show you won’t soon forget.
